Dental hygienists and dental assistants are in constant demand in dentists office across the United States. Even better, becoming a dental hygienist takes much less time than going to a dental school, and can be completed in most states at a dental hygienist school or dental assisting schools.
Dental hygienist schools in Idaho are not as prominent as in states with larger cities, however three different options are available in different parts of the state. These include Idaho State University in Pocatello, Carrington College of Boise and the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. Each of these options are approved by the American Dental Hygienists Association as entry level dental hygienist schools.
Carrington College of Boise is more of a trade school offering an associate degree in dental assisting or dental hygiene. The College of Southern Idaho is a community college offering an associate degree in both dental assisting and dental hygiene as well. The University of Idaho is a state public college and offers a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene, as well as a Masters degree in dental hygiene.
